Founded in 1868 by Léonie Duchêne, a winemaker, and Victor Canard, a cooper, the Canard-Duchêne House is the result of a forward-thinking history that values human connections.
Located in Ludes, a Premier Cru village at the heart of the vineyard, the House maintains a deep connection to nature, as demonstrated by its various commitments.
For over 20 years, Laurent Fédou, Cellar Master, and now Cynthia Fossier, who succeeded him after five years of collaboration, have passionately continued the Canard-Duchêne style: balanced, fresh, and fruity champagnes that highlight the Pinot Noir, the emblematic grape of the Montagne de Reims.
To celebrate the moments that unite us and to accompany all occasions of consumption, the House offers a full range of champagnes, some of which are dedicated to gastronomy.
Canard-Duchêne, Crafting connections since 1868.
At the origin of our wines is our connection to the terroir and the vineyard.
The House cultivates around 30 hectares of its own land and benefits from long-term partnerships, formed with 200 families of winegrowers for over 20 years, to complete its grape selection. This results in access to approximately 100 different crus, ensuring the expression of the richness of the Champagne soil, with a preference for the Montagne de Reims and, more specifically, Pinot Noir. The style of Canard-Duchêne champagnes—fresh, fruity, and balanced—results from precise blending work, with a high proportion of reserve wines.
The House goes even further, creating since 2012 a rare know-how: the Réserve Perpétuelle, used notably in our iconic cuvée: Léonie Iconic. Based on the Solera technique, this unique process brings complexity and aromatic richness.
Each of our bottles then benefits from exclusive aging in the natural and optimal conditions of the cellars at the Domaine de Ludes, carved by hand into the chalk in the 19th century. Finally, a low and controlled dosage, usually below 7g/l, perfects the creation of our champagnes.
Our wines each express their own personality, while conveying the vision of our Cellar Master, Cynthia Fossier, who is the guardian of the style and a commitment to an oenological trajectory focused on excellence.
Brut Essentiel
Shows a personality full of freshness, allowing the fruit to express its full potential.
Léonie Iconic
A symbol of renewal, it reflects the House’s style par excellence—freshness, intensity, and elegance of the fruit. It is also distinguished by the addition of 35% of a perpetual reserve initiated by the House in 2012, with the oldest wine dating back to 2009.
